The City of Boroondara have gone solar in a big way!

Across 32 Council buildings we have installed 2,398 solar panels - this equates to 837 kW of solar power installed.

Major installations:

  • 182.25 kW at Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre
  • 128.25 kW at Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre (pictured below)
  • 99.96 kW at Boroondara Sports Complex
  • 69.6 kW at Greythorn Community Hub
  • 62.1 kW at Boroondara Civic Precinct
  • 30 kW at Kew Depot

In addition, over 334 kW have been installed across a range of community centres, libraries, sporting facilities, senior citizens centres, kindergartens, and depot workshops.

Council has a progressive plan to install and expand solar panels across its various built facilities. A preliminary audit of remaining building portfolio was undertaken in 2022 to identify new solar sites.

Solar PV (Photovoltaic) is a technical term for a solar power system.
