Description
Across 32 Council buildings we have installed 2,398 solar panels - this equates to 837 kW of solar power installed.
Major installations:
- 182.25 kW at Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre
- 128.25 kW at Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre (pictured below)
- 99.96 kW at Boroondara Sports Complex
- 69.6 kW at Greythorn Community Hub
- 62.1 kW at Boroondara Civic Precinct
- 30 kW at Kew Depot
In addition, over 334 kW have been installed across a range of community centres, libraries, sporting facilities, senior citizens centres, kindergartens, and depot workshops.
Council has a progressive plan to install and expand solar panels across its various built facilities. A preliminary audit of remaining building portfolio was undertaken in 2022 to identify new solar sites.
