Councils main building and streetlights are supplied with electricity from wind power.

Description

Council electricity is sourced from the grid. Our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is for electricity from the Bald Hills Wind Farm (image below). This is achieved by the wind farm contributing as much electricity to the grid as Council uses (but not always at the same time).

Around 80% of the electricity used by Council main buildings and for residential streetlighting are large market sites. The PPA for large market sites started on 1 July 2020.
