Description

Council's small site electricity is currently provided through a standard supply contract. The current small market contract began on 1 January 2022 and is for 100% accredited GreenPower.

What is GreenPower?

GreenPower is electricity that is produced using 100% renewable energy. It is available for households and businesses through most energy retailers in Australia.

What is a Council small sites?

Residential, small businesses and small community facilities such as sports pavilions are small sites.

What about Council large sites?

Aquatic Centres and Council's corporate offices are large sites and essentially consume great amounts of electricity.

Around 80% of the electricity used by Council facilities and for residential streetlighting are large market sites. This electricity is supplied as part of Councils Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) which supplies 100% renewable electricity (i.e. wind and/or solar). The PPA for large market sites started on 1 July 2020.
